OUR History

The land where Bow Point Nursery sits has a deep history that strengthens our roots. As one of Alberta’s first established dairy farms, some of the original structures still stand, including a pole barn which is home to our sales centre today. We believe in history, land, sustainability and stories, and are happy that we are able to capture them.

Gerald, the original land owner, worked and managed the dairy farm for decades until Ken and Pam started to purchase small sections of the land in 1988. Acre by acre, Pam and Ken worked alongside Gerald until the farm was a flourishing nursery, and they realized their dream of researching, growing and offering native plants and trees for customers in Southern and Central Alberta.

In 2015, the nursery changed hands once again, but like the slow and carefully guided transition from Gerald to Ken and Pam, our new team is learning the intricate nature behind plant selection, seed collection and propagation under Ken’s leadership. You will often see Ken around the farm, sharing stories, consulting with customers or getting his hands dirty while teaching nursery team members.

We welcome you to Bow Point Nursery. We hope you feel the care and love that was put into this land when you arrive.
We hope that we can create new experiences with you as the nursery continues to flourish, as you grow your own life in Alberta.
