Gold Currant (Ribes aureum)

Landscape Use:
The showy, long-blooming flowers offer great early summer interest.
The best and most reliable of the fruiting shrubs from the prairies.
Reliable, predictable edible fruit production; you’ll have to race the birds for the fruit, although usually there is a heavy enough crop to go around.
Should be included in permaculture designs.
Makes an excellent specimen or hedging plant.
Likes it hot, dry, open and windy.
Extremely drought tolerant for Calgary and area gardens.

Special Conditions:
Needs full sun and a hot, dry site
